Skischool and snowboardschool head

Information leaflet about the Salzburger ski and snowboard instructor training:

The Salzburger Ski and Snowboard association trains ski instructors and snowboard instructors for all of Salzburg ’s ski and snowboard schools. All interested persons over the age of 16 can take part in this training. However, as a minimum qualification concerning skiing technique, carving turns on prepared ski runs are required.

All course participants are obliged to work in one of Salzburg ’s ski and snowboard schools during the coming winter season.

The charge for the training to become a professional ski or snowboard instructor (level 1: contender) is € 432,-- (course costs, ski pass and lecture notes). The total sum of costs has to be transferred to the account number 289108, BLZ 20404, Salzburger Sparkasse at least 14 days before the course starts. For all transfers from foreign countries BIC code SBGSAT2S and IBAN number AT362040402801081116 are necessary.

In this course accommodation at the youth hostel is obligatory and costs € 243,-- for half board. These costs are not included in the course charge. Therefore you have to pay them on your own at the youth hostel directly.  Check in is between 1.00 p.m. and 3.00 p.m.

In case of early departure (only with accidents or illness/medical certificate) the ski pass has to be handed in at the bottom of the lift station. Furthermore, a cancellation at the youth hostel is necessary.

If you can’t take part in the course you have chosen, please cancel your course as soon as possible! In case of a cancellation well in advance (at least 14 days before the course starts) you will be returned your charge (reduced by a handling charge of € 15,--). This is also the case if you fall ill and bring a medical certificate. In any other case (late cancellation or if you don’t come at all), we will have to charge you all the money.

Only if you pay the total sum of the charge you will be admitted to the course. A direct clearing of charges from the job centre to Salzburg ’s ski and snowboard association is not possible. The participant has to pay in advance in any case.

1 part dual training snow sport instructor (conductor) for ski and snowboard:

Duration: 15 days

This type of training offers the possibility to do the training and exams for snowboard and ski instructors at the same time.

All learning goals, subjects and exams are identical with the training for ski or snowboard instructors (1st parts of the training courses).

During these trainings committed and flexible instructors are taught to work in various parts of one of Salzburg ’s ski schools.

In most of Salzburg ’s ski schools the winter season starts around the 20th of December. Professional ski or/and snowboard instructors are employed for the whole season and have to work for at least two months. Ski and snowboard instructors who do this work as a second job will find work around Christmas time and in February.

All those who passed the 1st part of the training, will become members of the Salzburger Berufsschilehrerverband ( Salzburg ’s ski and snowboard association) during their first days of work. The membership is legally required and you will get a membership card from your ski school leader together with a confirmation about your training courses.

In case you don’t show up at your workplace, you will not become a member of Salzburg’s ski and snowboard association and you are excluded from any further training courses.

Attention: You have to make provisions in cases of illness or accidents on your own (health and accident insurance)!

About three weeks before the start of the training course you will get a confirmation of your application together with a calling.

Extra regulations for foreigners:

  1. A written confirmation for an employment at one of Salzburg ’s ski schools for the winter season of 2007/08 has to be added to your application. Without such a confirmation you will not be registered for the training.
  2. A sufficient command of German is necessary to follow the practical and theoretical training.
